A Teen Explainer in action!

The Natural History Museum of Utah is home to rich galleries and exhibits full of unique artifacts and specimens, each with their own history. Teen Explainers will help Museum guests engage with our new special exhibit, Nature’s Ultimate Machines, during the summer run of the exhibit, June 23, 2018 - September 3, 2018. Using hands-on activities and conversation in a Museum learning lab, they will help guests explore their curiosity and appreciation for the science of biomechanics. They may also provide multilingual explanations and support for visitors.

Participants of this program will have an opportunity to be a part of a prominent academic institution, and to get a behind-the-scenes view of a museum. Teen Explainers will develop their communication skills and become more self-confident through public speaking, gain a deeper knowledge of a topic (specifically, biomechanics), make new friends and share experiences with peers. This position will provide valuable working experience that can benefit future college or job applications. Participants who complete all requirements for this program will be eligible for letters of recommendation for outside employment or academic admissions as requested.
