Position Description
Are you interested in helping low-income youth get a college degree? Would you like to be part
of an organization that gives thousands of dollars each year to deserving students who aspire to
improve their lives and community?

has been providing need-based college scholarships to underserved communities and has

Legal Advisor

Responsible for advising Education First on all legal matters. Supports legal issues by suggesting
remedies for relevant issues. Works closely with the Board to ensure all decisions are compliant
with local, state, and federal law.

This is an advisory-only role responsible for identification of legal liabilities and advising the
organization on when to retain counsel. This role will not represent the organization in any legal
proceedings.

The following qualifications are preferred:
● Licensed to practice law in active good standing with the governing state bar association
● Experience with contract and non-profit law

This position has a time commitment varying between 1-2 hours per week and averages
approximately 3-5 hours per month. This position is designed so it can be held by individuals

Founded in 1995 by a group of recent college graduates, Education First is a nonprofit organization providing college scholarships to lo income youth. The founders of Education First believe that higher education can assist in breaking generational poverty. To promote our mission, we provide both financial and mentoring support to students. Education First targets students who have overcome significant life challenges and are seldom recognized for their achievements.
