ORGANIZATION: "I Have A Dream" Foundation of Boulder County

  • 1 person is interested

Academic Interns are needed to support high school students this summer (June and July) in Boulder and Lafayette. Interns will work with small groups of students or one-on-one working on academics and credit recovery. Skills and experience in physical science, algebra, Spanish, government, geography, L.A. and literacy, are strongly desired.

Interns are need from 8:30am to 12:30pm, at least three day per week (Monday-Friday) during June and July.

In addition to academic support, interns will be given a variety of projects and tasks that will vary according to their assigned site, ranging from: leading and facilitating small class activities, one-on-one student assistance, and more! This is a fantastic opportunity for college students who are wanting to gain experience with students, classroom/student management, and nonprofits.

Volunteer tutoring opportunities are also available (which includes a lesser time commitment and responsibility).

5390 Manhattan Circle, Boulder, CO 80303, US

Mission Statement

Mission: To empower children from low-income communities to succeed in school, college, and career by providing academic, social, and emotional support from elementary school through college, along with a post-secondary tuition assistance scholarship. Vision: Our dream is a world where all children have equal access to the educational and career opportunities that will ignite their innate potential.

Description

Since 1990, IHDF Boulder County has served more than 1,000 local youth, and currently has 12 active Dreamer Scholar Classes. The model, with its one-on-one attention and daily programming, has proven to narrow the opportunity gap. Dreamer Scholars graduate from high school, enroll in post-secondary programming, and complete their post-secondary education at much higher rates than their low-income peers.
