A want versus a need. How to balance a checkbook. Don't you wish that someone had taught you those things as you were growing up?

Now there is someone. YOU. All we need is your enthusiasm, life experience, and a willingness to teach children about how you took chances and shot for the stars. Junior Achievement provides the training, curriculum, and a classroom ready to meet you.

Our current need for Roosevelt Magnet School includes Kindergarten - 7th grade. If you are interested in volunteering in one of these grades, please contact Rachel Tan (rachel.tan@ja.org).

All materials are provided to teach students about financial literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship through experiential, hands-on programs. Only 5-7 sessions of less than an hour required.

Mission Statement

To inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.

Description

Junior Achievement (JA) is the world's largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. Junior Achievement of Central Illinois is a member of JA Worldwide and part of a global organization that operates in 123 countries and reaches 9.7 million students.

JA programs help prepare young people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs which make their communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace. Students put these lessons into action and learn the value of contributing to their communities.

JA's unique approach allows volunteers from the community to deliver our curriculum while sharing their experiences with students. Embodying the heart of JA, our 384,925 classroom volunteers transform the key concepts of our lessons into a message that inspires and empowers students to believe in themselves, showing them they can make a difference in the world.

JA programs empower youth to own their future economic success.
