We are a local rescue organization and lots of our dogs need a good washing or brushing! This opportunity will require you to get your hands a little dirty and maybe dog fur everywhere, but it's well worth it once you turn a dirty dog into a very clean one! You don't need any supplies or much past experience, just wear clothes you don't mind getting too dirty and be prepared to handle some dogs who aren't too happy about being washed.
If you live in the area near Walnut, Diamond Bar, Rowland Heights, Covina, Chino Hills, or surrounding areas, this is a perfect opportunity because our shelter is located in Rowland Heights.
Requirements:
- >15 years of age
- comfortable with handling dogs
- can come at least 1x a week
- dedicated, hardworking
All of our opportunities are eligible as volunteer hours. For volunteers who go above and beyond, we can also provide references and letters of recommendations for the future!

Mission Statement
Our mission is to protect and help dogs and cats from homelessness neglect, abuse, cruelty and abandonment. VIDA does not belong to any one person but instead to all of its volunteers. We adopt out about 50-60 cats and dogs per month - we rescue dogs from high-kill shelters, low income neighborhoods, and from the streets of Mexico. Description
Volunteers in Defense of Animals is a non-profit organization working to end the suffering and mistreatment of dogs and cats in Southern California. We bring spay and neuter services to areas where families cannot afford them; we facilitate the rescue, foster care, and adoption of animals whenever possible, and we offer education and support to those involved in the care of animals.
We have found forever homes for hundreds of dogs and cats, with around 4-5 new adoptions taking place each week. Many of our dogs come from local high-kill shelters before they are euthanized and on the streets of both the US and Mexico. We also have spay/neuter operations in low-income neighborhoods in the US and in Mexico and have spayed/neutered thousands of pets.
