Are you seeking experience volunteering at a civil rights organization? Project Sentinel is recruiting Fair Housing Testers to help end discrimination in Northern California's housing market. Testers pose as prospective tenants, inquire about a housing opportunity in person or by phone, and submit a report about their experience. Testers' experiences are compared to determine if discrimination has occurred.
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be 18 or older;
- Attend a tester training session and complete a practice test;
- Pass a criminal history check;
- Be reliable and committed to civil rights; and
- Be able to draft and submit well-written, objective reports within 24 hours of completing a test.
Testers are used as needed and earn a stipend, typically $15 to $55 per test, plus mileage and expense reimbursements.
For more information or to register for a training session, contact (408) 749-1856.
