Volunteer vocational trainers for an NGO working in rural Eastern Uttar Pradesh, India
United for Hope is a fast growing international NGO with roots in Germany and registration in France, India and most recently USA.
We have been working in North India (Uttar Pradesh) since 2013 and strive to create lasting change in the lives of India’s rural poor
Our vision is simple: to redress the balance.
We facilitate the development process on the village level. Our aim is to ensure that through collective efforts and efficient planning, social interventions are organised by the most appropriate partners, that resources are owned by the residents who benefit from them, and that improvements are sustainable and replicable.
We run a wide variety of projects in the field of solar energy, education, WASH, social tourism, women’s empowerment and much more and all our work is developed with and for the community.
As a part of our educational project, we teach vocational training courses, to provide the villagers of our area with technical or specific skills that will empower them and help them find a better job and a more satisfying place in their society.
We are looking for skilled Volunteer Vocational Trainers to help us teaching the following subjects:

English
Additional courses can be taught depending on applicant's skills and interests.

Accommodation
We offer a shared accommodation in our Community Centre, that is located in the village of Tirmasahun (Kushinagar District, Eastern UP) and it is the heart of all our projects.
The volunteer will share a double room with one of our team members or volunteers.
Our modern facilities include a shared toilet, a kitchen, several bedrooms, 2 classrooms for our education projects, a common space and a beautiful garden.
Safe, clean water is always available on site as well as 24/7 solar energy and wifi.
Laundry service is included and we have a live-in professional cook and cleaner.
Our volunteer will live with around 5/6 Indian and European team members and volunteers.
Our cook prepares 3 meals per day.
Breakfast can include chai, seasonal fruit,cookies, omelettes or prathas (Indian flat bread filled with onions or potatoes)
Lunch and dinner can include seasonal vegetables, legumes (lentils, beans or chickpeas), eggs, chicken, paneer (Indian cheese), accompanied by salad, chapatti (Indian flat bread) and rice.
Chai and snacks are always available over the day.
We welcome Volunteer Trainers for a minimum of 6 weeks (minimum duration of the vocational training course).
The length of the stay can change according to the vocational training course.
Volunteers available for a later date, are welcome to apply for later vacancies.
N.B. A proof of qualifications (official certificate, cv with relevant experience etc.) is required to join us as a vocational trainer.
We ask our volunteers to bring with them a curriculum for their classes, and to teach 5 days a week for around 2 hours a day. A translator will be available to support the volunteers during the class.
The rest of the time will be spend planning the classes, developing activities related to the vocational training course, following up with the students and helping with the NGO’s projects.
We are 30 minutes away from the Buddhism pilgrimage location of Kushinagar. Lucknow and Varanasi can be reached by train or bus over a long weekend and from the airport of Gorakhpur (1,5 hrs away from us) there are direct flights to Delhi and Kolkata.
