During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of both COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
We need volunteers to assist with caring for our farmed animals residents during farm opening and closing at our sanctuary in Lindstrom, MN. Residents currently include cows, pigs, sheep, and goats; additional farmed animal species will be added in the future.
Tasks include letting out or closing in the residents, feeding (feed & hay distribution), stall cleaning, refreshing residents’ water, and observing animal behavior / health for potential problems. Opening and closing tasks typically take 1.5 - 2 hours. Opening should be started no later than 9:30 am (earlier preferred if it is light); closing should be concluded at dark.
Farm Animal Care volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. You must be comfortable working with large farm animals (e.g., cows and pigs); prior farm animal experience is not required, but is beneficial. Finally, Farm Animal Care volunteers must be reliable - the health and well-being of our residents depends on it!
Farm Animal Care volunteers must attend an Animal Care Training, which are held Saturday mornings at 9:30 (visit https://farmaste.org/volunteer/volunteer-opps/ to see and sign up for training dates) and shadow a trained volunteer a minimum of 2 times before signing up for independent shifts. After you are trained, you will be expected to sign up for regular (e.g., weekly or biweekly) shifts.

Farmaste's Mission: We offer rescue, rehabilitation and a safe haven to abused, injured, and unwanted farmed animals. We educate the community about the cruelty farmed animals face. We allow visitors to see our residents as individuals with unique personalities such that people will value them and treat them with respect and kindness. We offer a variety of community outreach programs to promote mindfulness and compassionate living, inspiring change in the way society views and treats farmed animals.
Farmaste Animal Sanctuary a registered 501(c)(3) that provides life-long care to abused, neglected, and unwanted farmed animals at our 79-acre sanctuary in Lindstrom, MN. We are currently home to 10 rescued cows, sheep, goats, and pigs (we will continue to slowly accept new residents as funds allow). In addition to caring for these animals, through public events we seek to help visitors see farmed animals as unique, loving individuals worthy of happy, health lives. Farmaste is currently small, all-volunteer run organization.
We'll work with your schedule.
