Description of the Role: Special Events Volunteers will report to and work closely with the Volunteer Services Coordinator in greeting event guests and assisting staff in day-of-event preparations. This position has a constant interaction with past and prospective volunteers, donors, customers and the public at large and requires excellent customer service skills. Special Events Volunteers will assist with greeting event guests and answering questions about Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Greeting volunteers at annual events such as: Golfing Fore Habitat, BluePrint Gala, Valspar Golf Tournament, etc.
• Thanking guests make them feel appreciated.
• Be an ambassador for Habitat’s mission by supporting our efforts to maintain extraordinary relationship with all donors/customers/volunteers/event guests.
• Assist in set-up of event, which may include setting up tables, chairs, displays, etc.
• Assist in breakdown of event, which may include breaking down table, chairs, displays, etc.
• Answering any questions from guests about Habitat for Humanity.
• Creating a welcoming and safe atmosphere that encourages guests to enjoy their experience at a Habitat event.
• May require the ability to collect donations and use iPad to process purchases and receive donations.
• Any other reasonable tasks requested by Volunteer Services Department or Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas staff putting on the event.

Secondary Responsibilities:

• General knowledge of Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County and its mission.
• Agreed to be added to list of Annual Events Ambassadors and respond to any emails requesting event volunteers.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 lbs. as needed, frequently required to stand and walk for long extended periods of time, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
• Adhere to dress code of Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County event.
• Arrive early and stay for entire time of the Habitat event.
• Advocate for Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County.

Skills and Experience Required:

• Professionalism, self-motivated, reliable, honest and enthusiastic.
• A passion for the mission of Habitat for Humanity.
• Ability to handle and defuse challenging situations with tact.
• Required to attend Nuts & Bolts Orientation or scheduled training with Volunteer Services Department, whichever is determined by Volunteer Services Department.
• Strong communicator.
• Customer Services oriented.
• Public speaking experience.
• Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, donors, volunteers and the general public. Ability to speak English fluently.
