Do You Want to be a Part of the Hospice Team?

At Grace Hospice, you are a part of the Interdisciplinary Team. We understand and value the impact that volunteers have with our patients and their families. We understand that the hospice volunteer has a unique, special relationship with our patients. One that is unlike any other relationship.

Volunteers connect on a level that comes from a true desire to be present, being non-judgemental, listening, providing companionship and emotional and spiritual support.

As a Grace Hospice volunteer your insight is crucial in determining the best plan of care for our patients.

Volunteers are trained and provided continuous education to provide them with the necessary tools to ensure great patient/volunteer interaction and understanding.

If you would like to learn more about the role of the hospice volunteer within our team, please call Grace Hospice today at 616.432.2050.

Mission Statement

For each employee to treat every patient as their own treasured loved one, providing care that affords a quality of life that outweighs quantity of days, and supports caregivers as their hearts find healing.

Description

Hospice is a philosophy of caring for patients whose medical conditions are not responding to treatment or for those patients who choose not to seek aggressive medical care at the end stage of life. It is a program for patients who are considered terminal and are expected to live six months or less if the disease follows its natural course, although many patients outlive this time frame. The hospice philosophy focuses on comfort care not curative care. The goal of hospice care is for the patient to remain as comfortable and pain-free as possible in their own home or the home of a loved one through the end of life. Hospice care can also be provided in a long-term care facility or an assisted living facility
