The Marching Elite is currently looking for volunteer teachers of marching brass and woodwinds. Volunteers should be proficient in either brass (sousaphone, euphonium, baritone, trombone, mellophone, trumpet) or woodwinds (flute, clarinet, alto and tenor saxophone), have great enthusiasm for working with energetic young people and teaching music and be able to commit to Tuesdays and Thursdays 6 - 8pm or Saturdays 1 - 3pm.
Potential teachers do not need to have prior teaching experience, although this is very helpful.
The music program consists of group lessons (sectional and ensemble practices). Although this is a voluntary position, we ask that teachers commit to at least one location: Cherry Hill in Baltimore City (Tuesday and Thursday) or Owings Mills in Baltimore County (Saturday). This provides the consistency and stability that our participants need.
This is an ideal opportunity for music students, recent graduates and musicians to build experience and develop their teaching in a fun and dynamic environment, all the while meeting a very real need.
