Salmon Home Care is looking for caring, compassionate individuals to join our volunteer team. You will touch lives in extraordinary ways through this community service opportunity. We are looking for volunteers to visit hospice patients living in Central and Metrowest cities and towns and also in Nursing Facilities located in Medway, Milford, Northbridge, Northborough, Worcester, Westborough, Natick and Sharon. Individuals of all ages and backgrounds are welcome, and no previous hospice or health care experience is needed. As a hospice volunteer, you’ll spend a couple of hours each week providing friendly companionship to one of our patients in their residence. Time spent reading a book, writing a letter, hand holding, relieving caregivers or sitting bedside during vigil visits enhances the quality of life of hospice patients. Your visit can touch the lives of others and offer a caregiver a much-needed break. Donations of flower arrangements, blankets, music, or other sensory items are also welcome.
If you would like more information about this topic, please contact Kellye Riani at 774-573-5758 or email at kriani@salmonhealth.com.

Mission Statement
We respect the privacy, the views and the decisions of the people we serve. We seek and encourage the participation of their families. We acknowledge that each person has a unique history and special qualities. From this respect comes extraordinary compassion and caring, as we strive to help them achieve their best quality of life. And we never lose sight of our most basic responsibility--to treat each individual as we would want to be treated ourselves.
Description
Hospice is a concept of care which focuses on enhancing life and providing compassionate care for people entering the last stages of life. Hospice neither prolongs life, nor does it hasten death; its goal is to enable individuals to continue to live the duration of their lives free of avoidable pain and unpleasant symptoms. Hospice care brings comfort and dignity to individuals because it focuses on achieving the best quality of life possible during the advanced phases of a terminal illness.
Choosing hospice is always a difficult decision. During this challenging time, it is important to know that you and your family are not alone. We here at SALMON Hospice are dedicated to supporting our patients and those closest to them as they face this difficult stage of life. We address the physical, emotional, psychological, social and spiritual needs of our patients while offering their families the support and any assistance they need.
