ORGANIZATION: Doctors Giving Back

  • We are looking for 2 or 3 volunteers that consider themselves to be: outgoing "people person", very organized, high energy, multi-tasking specialists who desire to "give back" by volunteering to help people living in destitute parts of Africa who truly have nothing.
  • Our Administrative Assistants work side by side with DGB Directors taking on the daily duties and challenges of running a successful medical relief, non-profit organization, by helping us manage projects and programs in the poorest country in Africa, Ethiopia.
  • Admin. assistant should enjoy organizing projects/programs, fundraising, managing people, working independently and finding solutions to obstacles standing in the way of our projects, programs etc
  • Excellent Listening and Communication Skills as well as good People/Interpersonal Skills are a necessity. First line of communication between the directors and the outside world often speaking with donors, supporters, foundation/grant representatives, government representatives, upper management, volunteers etc. about DGB programs, projects. This information may be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.
  • Organizational Skils, high attention to detail also necessary.
  • Computer/iPad/Phone Skills: Writing/answering emails, preparing documents, formal letters. Good knowledge of common office apps such as Pages, Word, Numbers, Excel, Keynote, Power Point etc. creating spreadsheets, printing documents.
  • Knowledge and use of iPad preferred or willingness to learn iPad applications.
  • Coordinate and oversee the work of other DGB volunteers and all committees including Fundraiser committees.

Mission Statement

Doctors Giving Back is a medical relief/humanitarian aid organization that provides medical care, medicines, medical supplies, vaccines, clothes, shoes, and clean water programs for destitute people living in the poorest parts of Africa. Heslthcare i s almost non-existent in these areas and people suffer and die from preventable and treatable diseases such as Malaria, Typhoid, Cholera, Tuberculosis, Intestinal Parasites and AIDS. 85% of these diseases are caused by the dirty water they drink...the only available water to drink.

Description

Projects and programs include:

Provide sustainable water filtration systems in remote villages

Take medical teams to remote villages twice a year to provide medical care, vaccines and medications to people who may have never seen a doctor in their entire life.

Children's Feeding Program: feed orphaned and homeless children with a meal a day feeding program. Send kids to school who would have never had a chance to go to school

DGB Constructi teams assist in projects to remodel a remote hospital that serves one million people with only 3 doctored and no supplies. Provide hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of medical supplies to hospital and medical clinic in need of supplies.
