ORGANIZATION: SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve

  • 2 people are interested

SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve seeks a talented individual to join our team as an Environmental Educator. Environmental educators will help lead hands-on experiential field trips, develop and implement curriculum, and assist with guided walks in our bog. Volunteers are asked to come on an as-needed basis. Past educational experience desired.

We would like for a volunteer to commit to leading Wilderness Adventure field trips one day per week during these 6 weeks:
April 16th
April 23rd
May 7
May 14
May 21
May 28
We will provide curriculum and guidance as well as the potential to create your own experience from our resource bank of great activities.

This is a great opportunity for someone seeking experience teaching and shaping a diverse education program for an established and busy conservation organization.

Volunteer will be subject to a background check (free) and we will ask for a reference.

For more information and to apply, please contact our Restoration and Education Manager, Ali Yeates, ali@shadowhabitat.org

Mission Statement

SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring the sustainability of Shadow Lake Bog and other unique habitats within Jenkins Creek Basin through environmental education, preservation, and restoration.

Description

SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve is dedicated to protecting wetland habitat in South King County through education, preservation, and restoration. To date, SHADOW has placed nearly 100 acres of wetland habitat under permanent protection, providing critical wildlife habitat and passage in a landscape rapidly losing its functioning wetlands and green spaces. The true gem of SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve is our very own SHADOW Lake Bog and half-mile boardwalk trail leading into the heart of it!
