Volunteers are an essential part of each and every
one of ourcollection events! Volunteering is also a great way to make a positive impact on the environment of western PA!

What does a volunteer do?
As a collection volunteer, you will:

  • Participate in a brief training session prior to the start of your event
  • Perform tasks such as directing traffic, taking surveys, handing out educational materials, and much more. You will be engaged!
  • Volunteers can work full or half-day shifts:
    • Full-day shift: 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m
    • Morning shift: 7:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m
    • Afternoon shift: 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m

Volunteer Recognition
PRC realizes how important volunteers are! Without your help, we would not be able to offer Bin Distribution Events to the residents of Pittsburgh. We would like to sincerely thank all of our former volunteers for their participation, and hope that many of you will work with us in 2018!

To show our appreciation, all volunteers at collection events will receive the following free of charge:

  • Breakfast and lunch
  • That warm fuzzy feeling that comes from helping a good cause

About PENNSYLVANIA RESOURCES COUNCIL

Location:

3606 PROVIDENCE RD, NEWTOWN SQ, PA 19073, US

Mission Statement

To lead and promote individual and collective actions to preserve Pennsylvania’s environmental resources for each generation.

Description

The Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC), a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit environmental organization, was founded in 1939 by a group of concerned citizens in the Philadelphia area who were concerned with the proliferation of billboards and other forms of roadside blight.

over the years PRC has focused on a variety of environmental issues including Anti-Littering campaigns, Environmental Living Classes (composting, worm composting, rain barrels) and water conservation and stormwater management education. Recently PRC received a cooperative grant to build rain gardens in the region. These are designed to divert rain water and runoff from the storm sewers, which flow into area creeks, stream and rivers. The water is redirected to a garden where pollutants can be naturally cleaned through the soil.
