Educate the public by leading walks, both on weekends or mid-week, which focus on some aspect of natural or human history of the Shawangunk Mountains. Or be a guide for recreational activities such as hikes or cross-country skiing.
Our weekend adult hikes are a popular part of our Public Program. These are adult hikes at varying levels of difficulty which take place on weekends throughout the year. Volunteers are needed to lead hikes of all levels, however we currently have the greatest need for volunteers willing to lead easy to moderate hikes.
Leadership experience is preferred as well as knowledge of Preserve trails. A brief orientation/training session is required. Additionally, at least one hike with an experienced Preserve hike leader is required.
