Become a tcoach monitor--help children living in foster care and their parents be reunited.

About:
Family Connect needs volunteers like you to provide children in foster care and their parents with the opportunity to have supervised visits in a family friendly setting.

These visits are an essential service to increase the family's changes for reunification and reduce the children's anxiety while in foster care. Each visitation site is filled with toys, games, books and art materials to provide a comfortable environment for children and their parents to have positive experiences together.
Working with community partners, we have visitation sites in Pasadena, South Pasadena, El Sereno, Echo Park and Baldwin Park. We are especially interested in bilingual volunteers who speak Spanish.

Special training is being offered April 27th - 28th and May 4th - 5th. Contact inbox@fostercareproject.org and our website at www.fostercareproject.org to sign up and learn more.

Flintridge Center is the fiscal sponsor for the Foster Care Project.

Mission Statement

To break the cycle of poverty and violence through community planning, innovation and action.

Description

Flintridge has been working in the Northwest Pasadena/ West Altadena community for over 30 years through a continuum of prevention and intervention programs with the goal of improving educational achievement, breaking down barriers to employment, and steering community members away from the cycle of crime, violence and incarceration.
Two of our main services are our mentoring and after school programs, which altogether serve more than 150 youth, who are at risk of dropping out of school or joining gangs, per year and our Apprenticeship Preparation Program, which prepares and supports previously incarcerated and gang impacted individuals for careers in the construction trades. Moreover, as the City of Pasadena's official Institutional Home for Community and Gang Violence Prevention/Intervention Programs and Positive Youth Development, Flintridge collaborates with local community partners to continuously develop and strengthen programs in response to the specific needs of our community.
