The SoulDeevas are looking for a young lady with experience in any genre of dance to join our coaching staff as a junior captain for our hip-hop majorette dance team.
Hip-hop majorette dancing is high-energy, synchronized, rhythmic dance moves that draw from ballet, jazz, modern dance, hip-hop and gymnastics.
Our NJ Team will rehearse in the downtown Rahway area of New Jersey starting in May. Our girls are beginners and range in age from 5 to 16. We will be preparing them for competitions, field shows, parades, performances and sporting events. We anticipate that the first auditions will happen in April.
Your job would be to learn the routine alongside the girls and help the coach make sure that each girl understands the routine. When the coach needs to step away (or if she is late), you will work with the girls having them practice their stretches and routines. You will also help the coach with any administrative opportunities, such as taking attendance and checking paperwork. When the team travels, you will also travel to assist - but you will not compete.
This is a great opportunity for students who need community service hours for credit and an even greater opportunity for aspiring dancers to become part of a new and growing dance company.

Friends of MJHS ("Friends") is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation organized for the purpose of generating contributions, pledges and funds for the development and ongoing support of Citadel Academy Prep School (CAPS), a school that will provide students in grades 6-8 with a high quality Christian education through a well balanced, yet challenging curriculum that ministers to the spirit, soul and body.
Friends will also provide funds, management and ongoing support of The SoulDeevas Performing Arts Company, a character building sports and arts program that will serve all youth regardless of their religious affiliation. The SoulDeevas will include programs that provide activities, resources and support during critical out-of-school time hours in a safe, nurturing environment that works from a strengths-based, youth development perspective.
