ORGANIZATION: Second Harvest of Silicon Valley

Second Harvest of Silicon Valley on North First Street in San Jose is seeking an Administrative Volunteer in the Finance area who will:

  • Prepare paperwork for scanning
  • Organize storage room
  • Ownership of all files and paperwork
  • Prep boxes to get ready to distribute out to 3 rd party storage facility which includes bar coding and updating Excel spreadsheet
  • Good, clear penmanship is a plus
  • Software use includes:
    • Excel
    • Canon DR-C225 and Copystar CS7551 Ci
  • Can work on their own once trained
  • Flexible work schedule
  • Able to lift 25 pounds occasionally
  • Open to assisting on other projects at manager’s request
  • Be responsible with confidential information
  • Minimum commitment of three months


How we are dealing with COVID-19:

  • The office is cleaned and sanitized on a regular, daily basis. We follow the recommendations by the Santa Clara Department of Environmental Health and Department of Public Health.
  • We require staff and volunteers to follow the mandated safety precautions such as 6 feet social distancing and wearing a mask in the facility.
  • We have all staff and volunteers fill a COVID-19 Check-In Form before coming in for the day.
  • We know this is a time of high anxiety, and the well-being of our employees, volunteers and clients continues to be our highest priority.

Second Harvest of Silicon Valley is a private non-profit organization that collects and distributes more than 12 million pounds of food each month. We currently serve an average of over 500,000 individuals each month; 60% are low income families and 20% are seniors. By building collaborative networks, we efficiently distribute food by leveraging donations of money, food and human resources. But we cannot do it alone.
