The 1City Academy, a newly developing nonprofit educational and youth organization, is seeking its first Board Chair.
The Board Chair will partner with the Founder to build a high-functioning Board of Directors for the nonprofit which will serve youth New Jersey and New York. The Board Chair will provide leadership to 1City as it transitions from vision to reality, working with its Founder through the incorporation and tax-exempt processes and will also work to build it into a sustainable national entity. The Board Chair will support and sustain the work of 1City, and provide governance leadership and strategic fundraising support. A sense of humor and a love for young people are must haves for this role. Graduate level candidates with experience in fundraising, law, education or finance are strongly preferred.
The Board will eventually be comprised of members from New Jersey and New York City. The New Jersey headquarters are located in Rahway.

Description
Friends of MJHS ("Friends") is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation organized for the purpose of generating contributions, pledges and funds for the development and ongoing support of Citadel Academy Prep School (CAPS), a school that will provide students in grades 6-8 with a high quality Christian education through a well balanced, yet challenging curriculum that ministers to the spirit, soul and body.
Friends will also provide funds, management and ongoing support of The SoulDeevas Performing Arts Company, a character building sports and arts program that will serve all youth regardless of their religious affiliation. The SoulDeevas will include programs that provide activities, resources and support during critical out-of-school time hours in a safe, nurturing environment that works from a strengths-based, youth development perspective.
