ORGANIZATION: Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) - Rochester, NY

MDA Summer Camp at Rotary Sunshine Campus
MDA Summer Camp offers a fun and safe outdoor experience, along with opportunities to engage in a variety of accessible activities such as adaptive sports and recreation, arts and crafts, a camp dance, swimming, fishing, and so much more!

We are seeking medical professionals to join our Volunteer Medical Staff for a weeklong, overnight MDA Summer Camp session that will be held June 23-29, 2018 at Rochester Rotary Sunshine Campus in Rush, NY. We are in need of licensed medical professionals (LPN, RN, NP, PA, DO, MD) who are licensed to dispense medications in the state of NY (or who can obtain certification prior to the start of camp.)

As part of MDA’s mission to improve the lives of kids with muscular dystrophy and related life-threatening diseases, MDA’s summer camp program for kids ages 8-17 is offered at no cost to families. Kids with muscle disease attend MDA summer camps across the country each year. At MDA Summer Camp kids create lifelong friendships, build self-confidence and develop independence. Our one-of-a-kind camps provide a life-changing experience for all who attend. Children living with neuromuscular diseases face many unique challenges. As their muscles progressively get weaker, these children often lose basic functions such as walking, dressing, eating, talking or even breathing. In many cases, these diseases can be life-threatening, and some children may require 24-hour care from parents or another caregiver. We can’t do it without you! Medical staff volunteers are the lifeblood of MDA’s weeklong camp program. Medical staff are critical to caring for our campers so they can enjoy a fun and safe outdoor camping experience.
