VOLUNTEER JOB TITLE: Volunteer Coordinator
Reports to: Executive Director
Salary: Volunteer
Status: N/A
Type: *Part-time (Bi-weekly Saturday's from 10am - 2pm or Bi-weekly Mondays from 5pm -7pm)



GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for allocating responsibilities and retaining the best people: ensuring that the organization is always staffed with the best and most reliable individuals, and whom are correctly utilized for the fulfillment of HHFP’s mission.


JOB FUNCTION:


OPERATIONS

  • Source and recruit volunteers through various techniques (databases, e-mail, social media etc.)
  • Check criminal backgrounds
  • Collect information on availabilities and skills
  • Arrange for appropriate training when needed
  • Produce and or coordinate schedules for everyday activities and or special events
  • Assign responsibilities to the right people for special events
  • Coordinate teams of volunteers for large-scale actions
  • Communicate frequently with volunteers to ensure they are satisfied and well-placed
  • Disseminate information for upcoming actions and events
  • Keep detailed records of volunteers’ information and assignments
  • Ensure the purpose of the organization and its actions is clearly communicated
  • Enter data into Giftworks data base
  • Enter data into Google spreadsheets


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma
  • Experience in volunteering locally preferred but not required
  • Willingness to learn
  • Home maker or Retiree



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • General business related computer skills, including the ability to learn and use data management programs.
  • Able to utilize Microsoft office programs (Word, Excel,)
  • Excellent organizational skills - ability to prepare written reports on a timely basis
  • Ability to effectively cultivate positive relationships with all the stakeholders: volunteers, staff, board members, donors, the business community and the general public.
  • Ability to plan, research and act
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to a changing work environment
  • General business related computer skills, including the ability to learn and data management programs.
  • Ability to relate to volunteers and clients, showing respect for diversity.
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Proven experience as operations director or similar position
  • Experience in volunteering locally and/or internationally
  • Experience in recruiting through various channels
  • Able to communicate effectively with diverse people
  • Excellent organizational and team coordination abilities
  • A pleasant, outgoing personality

The mission of Hospitality House is to minimize deprivation in our community by providing food and assistance to those in need, while maintaining the utmost respect for the dignity of the individual. Hospitality House works to fulfill this mission by operating a food pantry and providing referral services. In addition, Hospitality House also provides advice and aid to pantries in other cities as they work to fight hunger in the greater southeastern Michigan community

Description

Hospitality House is the largest client choice food pantry in Oakland County Michigan. Serving over 500 families monthly. HHFP provides free food for families at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.
