Join the Thurston County Food Bank and Thurston Conservation District for a volunteer work party at the Lydia Hawk Elementary school garden! Help maintain and improve this important space so that it can continue to be a place of valuable, hands-on education and homegrown food for students in your community!
Volunteer the whole day, or for however long you’re able! Morning and afternoon sessions will have different tasks:
-Morning (8:30am-12pm): Weeding and digging.
-Afternoon (1pm-4:30pm): Laying mulch and wood chips.
-Additional tasks if time allows: maintenance on the irrigation system, planting native plants, installing the new rain barrel.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
-Tools and gloves will be provided.
-Drinks and snacks will be available.
-We’ll have a light lunch at 12pm. If you plan on volunteering the whole day, consider bringing a full lunch.
