We are looking for someone to work with the Fundraising Subcommittee a couple hours a week with planning as well as administrative tasks. Responsibilities include: posting fund raising events, writing 1-page descriptions and other promotional material, contacting potential venues or partners via phone or email, coordinating with members of Fundraising Subcommittee and Board of Directors, promoting events in person and on social media. This volunteer work can be done remotely or in person and can be a short term or long term commitment with flexible schedule. This an opportunity for both experienced fund-raisers / marketers and those looking for a learning opportunity. You will have the option to attend the subcommittee meetings but not required.

Independence Unlimited, Inc. helps people with disabilities lead independent lives by training Independent Living skills, peer counselling, advocacy, information & referrals, and transition coordination. We are a Center for Independent Living located at 151 New Park Avenue, Hartford, CT.

To encourage and empower people with disabilities to live as independently as they choose, wherever they choose. We serve people of all ages, having any type of disability and do not charge for our services. We are organized, governed and staffed by people with disabilities.

Description

Through four core services; information and referral, independent living skills training, individual advocacy and systems advocacy we serve consumers with any type of disability. By providing these services, we help people move from the restrictive environment of institutions into their own homes in the community. We are currently working to establish a mentoring program in the city of Bristol, CT that matches community members with people moving to the area from hospitals, nursing homes, etc.
