Our homebound home care clients don’t have many visitors. It can be days or weeks before they have quality communication with friends or family. The purpose of the friendly caller is to bridge this gap. Providing a friendly voice is very meaningful. The volunteer will call a list of Home Care clients and be an uplifting voice to homebound individuals.
Responsibilities and key deliverables- Make friendly calls (a script and training will be provided).
- Track all client call notes on the Friendly Caller Log form. Submit the form to staff monthly.
- If any client concerns are identified, please forward those concerns to staff to follow-up (preferably via email).
- If a client is in danger, direct the client to call 911 immediately.
- Volunteers must have a heart for older adults and be comfortable making conversation on the phone.
- Commitment to, and passion for, the Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest mission.
- Team player, self-starter, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work with diverse populations.
- Access and ability to communicate through emails.
- Bilingual in Spanish would be a plus.
The volunteer may serve from home.
Clearances required & trainingThis role requires a Verified Volunteer background check ($17.) Volunteers are responsible for the cost.
Location & timeframeVolunteers may serve from home. Best times for calls can be determined between volunteer and client.
