ORGANIZATION: The Need2Read Program, Inc.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is available for a couple hours each week and is looking to give back to the community in interesting ways.

The right volunteer for this job should would need to do the following:

  • Oversees "Need2Share" and the "Exit Library" Programs of Need2Read
  • Works with Project Manager to develop and host community events
  • Assists Project7 students and volunteers with annual community literacy day event
  • Manages our Book Champion program with high school students
  • Manages the TutorUs tutoring service
  • Actively seeks out new ways in which our organization can engage the community through events and new partnerships
  • Attend monthly support staff meeting (virtual meeting)
Need2Read is a young and exciting organization that is ever growing and evolving to fulfill its objectives. Hence, the role of the Director of Community Service too might evolve over the course of time.

The Need2Read Program seeks to revive the need to read in children and adolescents in an effort to promote a healthy view of the importance of literacy, creativity, and imagination. We seek to aid in the academic and future professional success of our children by encouraging reading as a means to acquire developmentally-appropriate social, emotional, cognitive, and language skills.

The organization is a 501c3 nonprofit that serves both the general population and homeless population in an effort to promote literacy, community service, philanthropy, and volunteerism to better communities at-large.
