The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know about the most effective ways to contribute.
This is a Virtual Opportunity, with no fixed address.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is available for a couple hours each week and is looking to give back to the community in interesting ways.
The right volunteer for this job should would need to do the following:
Oversees "Need2Share" and the "Exit Library" Programs of Need2Read
Works with Project Manager to develop and host community events
Assists Project7 students and volunteers with annual community literacy day event
Manages our Book Champion program with high school students
Manages the TutorUs tutoring service
Actively seeks out new ways in which our organization can engage the community through events and new partnerships
Attend monthly support staff meeting (virtual meeting)
Need2Read is a young and exciting organization that is ever growing and evolving to fulfill its objectives. Hence, the role of the Director of Community Service too might evolve over the course of time.
