Do you have some extra kindness and compassion that you'd like to share? Become a Hospice Volunteer!
Volunteers are essential to the care provided by Willow Tree Hospice. Pet Therapy is one of the most requested services offered by our team of volunteers. It is amazing the power a pet can have on our patients and their caregivers. The comfort provided and the memories that surface make this a very rewarding opportunity not only for our patients and their families but the volunteers as well.
*Current COVID restrictions for patient visits has created new opportunities for hospice volunteers-'volunteering from a distance' allows for pet therapy volunteers to provide pet window visits.
We are all in this together seeking ways to support patients and families as only volunteers can!!
Volunteers work with the Willow Tree Hospice inter-disciplinary team to help provide patient and
family support. Volunteers provide companionship visits to offer a hand to hold, a listening ear or simply a caring, compassionate heart. Pet Therapy adds another dimension to these services that no other experience can do. Pet therapy visits help patients recall the comfort, relaxation and joy only a pet can provide.
All volunteers receive one on one hospice training. Pet Therapy certification is also required but Willow Tree Hospice will reimburse the volunteer for this expense. Current rabies vaccine verification also required.
The volunteer opportunity is VERY flexible and meant to work around your schedule.
