Description

Girls Incorporated of the Northern Sacramento Valley is an affiliate of Girls Incorporated National. With roots dating back to 1864, Girls Incorporated is the oldest girl-focused organization in the United States. Since our beginning, Girls Inc. has been transforming girls' views of themselves and helping them recognize the endless stream of opportunities that exist. Today, innovative programs help girls confront subtle societal messages about their potential and self-worth, and prepare them to lead successful, independent, and fulfilling lives. Girls Inc. delivers nationally researched and evaluated programs to girls ages 6-18 years old. The programs offered are designed and proven to empower girls and increase their self-esteem. Eight (8) identity programs focus on the issues and challenges girls face each day and equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to reach their maximum potential, to value themselves, and to assert their individual rights. Programming focuses on science, math and technology, economic and media literacy, health and sexuality, equality in individual and team sports, substance abuse prevention, and leadership and advocacy. Girls Inc. of the Northern Sacramento Valley became an affiliate of the national organization in 2006 and offers outreach programs to school sites in Shasta and Tehama County service areas. The organization is goverened by a Board of Directors commited to the Girls Inc. mission and the well-being of girls in our North State communities
