Natural History Museum of Utah hosts over 45,000 elementary students each year on field trips!

Each summer, the Natural History Museum of Utah offers natural science and STEAM-related day camps to children in 1 st-8 th grade. We need volunteers to help engage campers in their exploration of the natural world, and to facilitate curiosity and learning of science. As a Summer Camp Assistant volunteer, you will be able to play a part in igniting a young child’s life-long passion for science. You’ll gain valuable experience working with children in a classroom setting, and you’ll get specialized training on managing groups and sharing science content in meaningful ways.

Summer Camp Assistant volunteers are partnered with our Youth and Family Programs Informal Education Staff. As part of our Summer Camp staff, volunteers are part of creating an exciting, safe and fun learning environment. Volunteers assist the Informal Education staff with classroom management and facilitation by utilizing activities and projects that help campers identify their prior knowledge and make new connections with science and the natural world.
