Earth Day at Twin Rivers Ranch Preserve
ORGANIZATION: Capitol Land Trust
Please visit the new page to apply.
Earth Day is right around the corner! This year, we will work at the gorgeous Twin Rivers Ranch Preserve. This 133-acre piece of paradise protects the mouths of Cranberry Creek and Deer Creek, both of which are salmon bearing streams. After years of human impact, we have planted thousands of native plants, expanding the riparian buffer surrounding the creeks. Join us in maintaining these plantings by removing invasive vegetation that threatens their growth.
Tools, gloves and light snacks will be provided. Enjoy complimentary vegetarian minestrone soup! Leather gloves are best for blackberry removal. We have a few pairs, but please bring a pair if you have them as well as extra shovels and/or loppers. Please dress prepared for the weather, as we work rain or shine and wear sturdy shoes. There may be areas of standing water and mud.
Carpooling will be encouraged for this event, due to the potential for some parking areas to be wet and muddy.
