Registration as a volunteer is first come, first served. In order to volunteer you must email mary.owens@raleighnc.gov
Event Description: Join the City of Raleigh Parks Staff as we mulch Pullen Park. Mulching helps to hold in moisture, alleviate weeds, and helps maintain a well landscaped look in our parks.
Volunteer Duties: Volunteers will be helping to spread mulch. They will be using wheelbarrows, pitchforks and hard rakes.
Special Information: We will supply tools, gloves, snacks, water, sunscreen, bug spray, and a first-aid kit. All volunteers must wear loose comfortable clothing that can get dirty, and sturdy closed-toe shoes such as sneakers or hiking/work boots. We will be sending out maps of where to meet us to those who register.
Work Environment: We will be working outside, so please dress for the weather. This project is rain or shine, but staff will notify volunteers if weather is severe and the project has to be cancelled. There is the chance for uneven ground. A bathroom is on site.
Volunteer Requirements: You must be at least 15 years old to volunteer. All volunteers will need to complete a volunteer release form (for volunteers under the age of 18 a parent/guardian will need to sign the volunteer form).
Per department policy, this volunteer opportunity is not to be used towards court-appointed/ suggested community service hours.
