This is a one-time project and will be open until filled.
The Virginia Living Museum is seeking someone to create a digital membership card that would be able to be stored in a smartphone wallet. Ideally, this would be someone with experience in web server setup and configuration, Node.js and Javascript.
The components that would need to be addressed are as follows:
- Interfacing with our membership system to be able to access data for our memberships.
- Setting up node.js on an externally accessible web server.
- Installing and configuring the Passkit Node module.
- Sign up as an Apple Developer, and generate a digital certificate from the IOS Provisioning Portal.
- Create a pass template and package.
- Write the Javascript code to generate passes for our membership data.
- Generate email messages for members with download links for their digital membership pass.

Successful volunteer candidate will possess prior training and experience necessary to demonstrate the necessary skills for the completion of this project. We estimate this one-time project could take up to a few months to complete.Please email cover letter and resume to notify us of your interest:

Volunteers at the Virginia Living Museum work with staff members to promote conservation by teaching the beauty and uniqueness of Virginia’s many habitats. They can be found helping in the public parts of the museum or behind the scenes working to maintain the high level of quality care we provide for our animals. No matter what the service, volunteers are an asset to the Virginia Living Museum. In fact, volunteers outnumber paid staff five to one.
There are a wide variety of positions available to volunteers allowing people to find a location at the museum in which they would truly enjoy volunteering. Whether you enjoy working with the public, prefer engaging with plant and animal life, or are seeking to acquire skills in communication or husbandry, the Virginia Living Museum has it all! We are seeking enthusiastic and dependable people, regardless of background and experience.
