Come share your talents and enrich the lives of young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are looking for volunteers to teach a class series of 4 or more classes for young adults at off site locations in Norwalk, New Canaan, Wilton or Westport, CT. Some of the classes we would love to fill are: DJ'ing or Karaoke, web site design, photography, ipad and iphone shortcuts, cooking classes, music classes, and more.

STAR, Inc., Lighting the Way is a not-for-profit organization serving individuals of all ages with developmental disabilities, as well as providing support services to their families.
We create opportunities for individuals to live full lives with independence, freedom of choice and personal growth by providing support, services and advocacy. We inform and encourage the community to recognize and appreciate the value of all individuals
Description
STAR, Inc. Lighting the Way... serves individuals with developmental disabilities throughout Fairfield County, CT concentrating mainly on Norwalk, Westport, Wilton, Weston, New Canaan and Darien.
We provide Birth to Three programs for children ages 0-3, day services for adults and seniors, job development and training, assistance and advocacy for families of children with developmental disabilities in and out of school-- and transitional help as they enter the work force. We also provide residential assistance and manage several group homes throughout the area.
STAR also provides recreational services for participants, transportation services, family support services, assistance and advocacy to help individuals with developmental disabilities become more independent, and help their families.
STAR holds several large fundraising events each year, and is a strong, active member of the communities where it has offices.
