Event Name:
Get Rid of Blight, Bring in the Light...

Event Description:

There is an abandoned gas station across from our Early Learning Center that needs to be boarded-up and the parking lot cleaned up.

Can you help us?

There are small rocks, and glass that need to be removed so our families will be safe to cross the street.

In addition, there will be graffiti removed from the building.

If there is time a board-up project will take place just around the corner from the gas station.

This is the first phase of creating a sustainable plan to make this area safe and deter the blight from happening again.

Please wear sturdy bottom shoes or steel toe shoes. Dress appropriately for the weather.

Gloves and safety glasses are encouraged, but we have some on-hand if you do not have any.

If the weather does not permit (freezing temperatures rain or snow) a notification will be email to those who register.

This project is great for groups, but individuals are encouraged to participate, the more the more work we get done for the community!

We join in this covenant.

Description

Focus: HOPE is a human service organization. Founded in 1968 in the wake of the 1967 Detroit riots by Father Willam T. Cunningham (1930-1997) and co-founder Eleanor M. Josaitis (1931-2011), Focus: HOPE unites a multicultural community in common efforts to overcome injustice and build racial harmony. Over the years, Focus: HOPE has initiated practical solutions to the problems of hunger, economic disparity, inadequate education, and racial divisiveness.
