About Us:
The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a non-competitive walk that takes place each year in October. Our event unites thousands of breast cancer survivors, caregivers, volunteers, corporate and community partners together to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer programs and research.
Internship Summary:
The Website / Social Media Intern will primarily focus on building out social media platforms as well as working with sending participant communications.
Responsibilities
- Support with the design and execution of social media marketing campaigns, from the initial planning stages through to final reporting
- Manage social media posting schedules and create content with the assistance of the Development team and Marketing team
- Design creative, visual content
- Develop social media campaigns and manage presence on multiple platforms
- Compile marketing statistics (e.g. followers, likes, etc.) on success of campaigns
- Remain current with best practices, strategies, and industry standards related to social media
- Participate in team meetings, as needed
- Understand how to target, follow and re-target participants
- Manage community outreach calendars
- Manage aspects of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer website
Requirements
We are looking for a website and social media intern who must:
- have the ability to work as part of a team
- have the ability to post and update all social media sites
- have excellent computer skills - Microsoft Office required
- have initiative and ability to work independently
Basic Qualifications
- Must be able to commit to 10-15 hours per week and come into the office when necessary
- Experience with the effective marketing and utilization of social channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+, YouTube, and Linkedin
- Proven effectiveness with managing timely delivery of work against short deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Commitment to exhibiting excellent grammar and writing skills
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Social Media, Communications, Public Relations skills
