Event Volunteer
The friendly and outgoing Event Volunteer works at events and represents Beacon of Hope Crisis Center in the community. This committed volunteer would be an articulate and passionate spokesperson for the Beacon of Hope Crisis Center at local events. The Beacon of Hope Crisis Center works to increase its visibility in the community. Volunteers are the face of Beacon of Hope Crisis Center in the community and thus play an important role in its mission to serve victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. This volunteer has a professional demeanor and engages the community to ensure the events are successful. This volunteer takes direction of staff and other volunteers.
Currently there are opportunities for daytime events and evening and weekend events. Please specify your availability on the application.
Beacon of Hope Crisis Center is a Christ-centered organization empowering victims of domestic violence and sexual assault to become self-sufficient by providing safety, education, and support. We serve ALL individuals and families facing domestic violence and/or sexual assault crisis regardless of religion, race, color, sex, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression, marital status, national origin, language capacity or ability. Our programs: Crisis Call, Criminal Justice, Economic Sustainability, Foster Pet, Teen Talk and Education Program.

Primary Requirements and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities, Skills and Qualifications for All Volunteers and Interns
Responsibilities:
- Supporting other staff and volunteers as needed
- Maintaining cleanliness and care of the Center’s offices
- Supporting other areas whenever possible.
- Maintaining building security by ensuring that all doors stay locked at all times. Volunteers will never be alone in the building.

- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Awareness and adherence to confidentiality and boundaries

Required Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft suite including Word, Power Point and Excel
- Excellent typing skills
- Commitment to non-violent and cooperative work environment
- Commitment to providing quality and equitable services to all clients regardless of race, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, religion, age or sexual orientation
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Ability to do online research
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Fluency in Spanish
- Bachelor’s degree pertaining to the position the volunteer/intern is interested in
- One or more years of experience pertaining to the position the volunteer/intern is interested in

Beacon of Hope offers the following services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault: crisis support, victim advocacy, case management, counseling, employment assistance, court accompaniment, life skills training, teen dating violence education and outreach, foster pet care, and community awareness.
