Interfaith Works (IW) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides emergency shelter, supportive housing, essential needs, and employment programs to over 35,000 residents of Montgomery County, MD, every year.

While Montgomery County, a part of the Washington, DC, metropolitan area, is considered affluent, more than 72,000 residents live on incomes below the Federal poverty line.

Our organization relies on the incredible support of volunteers who dedicate their time and provide supplies for activities in order for us to continue to enhance the lives of those whom we serve. We are so thankful because without volunteers, we would not be able to offer many of the services that are performed or delivered daily.

We urgently need your help in collecting items such as toiletries, laundry detergent, sunscreen, hand wash, hand sanitizers, food, cleaning supplies, paper towels, etc.

Here is a link to our wishlist: http://www.iworksmc.org/wish-lists/ Supply drives can be held offsite at your location of choice, and you may involve your family members, classmates, friends, coworkers and other associates. Our Communication Manager can also help design a flyer that you can utilize. Once you have collected the supplies, we can determine which program/residents from a particular shelter will receive the donations.

Are you wondering whether students can earn SSL hours for participating in a collection drive? If the supervising group - a school club or scout troop or youth group at a church or other faith organization is preapproved for SSL the students could earn SSL through their work with that group.
