Mission Statement

To provide to disadvantaged kids the most basic childhood right- A right to Joy

Description

For many Title 1 children, when they go home from school is when the real stress begins for them. Unfortunately, many live in less than desirable and unpredictable circumstances and being children, they can’t even temporality remove themselves from it. A bike provides these children with a sense of freedom, escape, and a way to decompress. A bike provides them with a sense of ownership when many Title 1 children don’t have anything (of value) that is truly theirs, some, not even their own bed. A bike also provides to these kids with a sense of childhood and innocence when in many situations, that’s been taken from them. There are already so many wonderful organizations out there that provide services to children of things they NEED like food, clothing, shelter, etc, but there are not many programs out there that provide disadvantaged kids with things they DESERVE simply because they are kids. A person may have all of the basic "needs" in life but what kind of life is a life without joy? What kind of adult is a child going to grow into if they grow up with nothing that brings them joy?

Going Places also has the program, "give a surprise. give joy." that​ spreads joy to the teachers and staff (this includes day-porter, kitchen staff, front desk, etc) that work in these schools.
