Riverbank Restoration Volunteers

Help Us Protect Public Lands and Watersheds!

___________________________________________________

Do you want to learn how to stabilize and restore an eroding riverbank? Council Grove State Park has an opportunity for volunteers at our Riverbank Restoration Project on Saturday, April 7th from 10am to 2pm.

Join us while we plant willows to tackle erosion along the Clark Fork riverbank at Council Grove State Park. Get your hands dirty by volunteering, or simply stop by the park to learn more about the project. Volunteers interested in planting willows will receive training and the opportunity to work alongside park staff professionals. All visitors will learn about restoration methods and techniques, what contributes to bank erosion, as well as the importance of restoring and protecting our public lands and waterways. Community members are welcome to stop by for an hour, or spend the whole day planting outside underneath Council Grove’s old-growth ponderosa pines and next to the beautiful Clark Fork.

Volunteers should wear weather-appropriate clothing, and come prepared to plant willows along a riverbank, close to the water. Please bring sturdy shoes, water, and work gloves. Refreshments and tools will be provided.
