OASIS works with neighborhood schools in the school districts to match children with trained, caring volunteers. The program taps the potential of committed volunteers that are over the age of 50 who can provide the individual attention children need to improve their reading, attitudes toward learning and success. Training and materials are provided; no teaching experience is needed. Next training session will be on Tuesday, May 8th, 2018 from 9:00am-2:30pm at OASIS 6333 State Route 298 East Syracuse, NY. Description
Oasis works in partnership with school districts to pair volunteer tutors 50 years of age or older, with children in grades K-3 who teachers feel would benefit from a caring, one-on-one mentoring relationship. One child, one tutor, one school year. Two lives forever changed.
