Museum Translate is a project that was established in 2017. Its aim is to provide translations of texts that are displayed in museums in to a wider range of languages. This service is provided to museums completely free of charge. Our sole focus for the foreseeable future is to provide translation of museum literature for museums based in Latin America meaning the service will provide translations from Spanish to English only.
This translation role will require two duties and we request that prospective volunteers are prepared to provide both of the roles outlined if they wish to apply for the project:
1) Translating museum text from Spanish to English
2) Proofreading and suggesting edits to translations provided by other volunteers (Peer-reviewing). Please note, this means that your translations will not be reviewed by a "senior" and we can only consider volunteers who are confident in their translating abilities to be of a satisfactory standard.
Volunteers need to be available for a minimum of 30 minutes per week and are required to give an indication of when they aim to complete an assigned translation when it is issued.
If you wish to apply: please complete the "Translators Registration Form" and send this alongside a copy of your most recent resume to email@example.com
Once your application has been reviewed, if we feel you are suitable for the project you will be sent a translation test to complete before being welcomed onto the project.
