About AMERICAN BRAIN TUMOR ASSOCIATION
Location:
8550 W BRYN MAWR AVE STE 550, CHICAGO, IL 60631, US
Mission Statement
The mission of the American Brain Tumor Association is to advance the understanding and treatment of brain tumors with the goals of improving, extending and, ultimately, saving the lives of those impacted by a brain tumor diagnosis. We do this through interactions and engagements with brain tumor patients and their families, collaborations with allied groups and organizations, and the funding of brain tumor research.
Description
Every day, 500 people are diagnosed with a brain tumor. They join more than 700,000 who are currently living with the fear, frustration and uncertainty a brain tumor diagnosis brings. There are more than 120 different types of brain tumors, which means there is no one answer to the brain tumor challenge.
Thanks to advances in research and technology (some funded by the American Brain Tumor Association), one-size-fits-all therapies are gradually giving way to precision medicine-sometimes known as personalized medicine-which uses molecular and genetic information to diagnose and treat tumors. Yet not all of those impacted by brain tumors have equal access to information they need and to medical innovations.
