E KY, WV, N MD: Seeking volunteer with cargo van for transport help. Help us save dogs!

We run a rescue/transport network that helps save the lives of dogs in rural Appalachia through various southern shelters and rescues that work with our pre-screened receiving rescues.

Part of this process involves Saturday transports between Ashland KY and Hagerstown MD. This is an area where we struggle to find volunteer drivers. Because of that, it's pretty much impossible for us to set up leg-to-leg transports along this part of our route.

So we are reaching out to potential volunteer drivers, asking if anyone has a cargo van and is willing to drive down to eastern KY and bring dogs back up to northern MD where they can meet our transport network of leg-to-leg drivers. You would be traveling along these interstates: I-64, I-79, I-68, I-70 & I-81. Start time is early in the morning on Saturday, probably around 6 am or so.

This is a great opportunity for retired couples who love to drive to get involved in dog rescue without having to foster dogs. You can do it once a month, once every couple of months, whatever fits your schedule.

We may be able to provide gas money for this venture if you are dog-savvy, reliable, and prove to be able to safely transport dogs. Crates for your van will also be needed, but it's probable we can put out a plea and get donated crates for that.

Your vehicle must be reliable, pass inspection, and adequately insured.
You must pass a background check for criminal activity.
