If you are interested in helping English language learners gain confidence as they practice speaking English then consider volunteering as the facilitator for one of our English Conversation Groups.
The conversation groups provide informal opportunities to meet other English language learners and practice speaking English in a friendly, welcoming environment
As a group facilitator you will assist English language learners build English skills and confidence as they practice conversations that cover American culture and a range of subject areas pertinent to daily life.
You do NOT need to speak a language other than English. TESOL, bi-lingual an advantage but not required. You will receive program facilitation training and have access to resources designed to enrich activities.
Requirements:
- Must be 21+ years of age
- Live Scan background check may be required
- Fluent and conversant in English
- Ability to speak simply and clearly
- Commit to 1 hour a week for 6 months (Specific schedule and frequency to be determined by the branch and the facilitator)
The following libraries intend to start English Conversation Groups. Day and time to be determined. Please indicate which branch or branches you would consider volunteering at when you submit your application.
