Event Volunteers Needed for Parent University! Parent University holds classes for parents, guardians, and caregivers on topics that are relevant to educating and caring for students. Tasks include greeting and helping attendees at check-in, answering questions, way-finding; helping to set-up and clean-up, and child care. Events are generally held on weekday afternoons/evenings and weekend afternoons, and require a two-four hour commitment. All Portland Public Schools volunteers are required to complete an application and submit to a background check. Description
Portland Public Schools' Multilingual & Multicultural Center provides support for multilingual students and families through registration assistance for new students, language access for families who need translation and interpretation services, parent orientation sessions for new arrivals to the United States, parent workshop sessions, Parent University, and Make It Happen! - a college readiness program for multilingual students.
