We need your muscle!
This is a VERY physical job! We're looking for two patron assistants to help out at our upcoming book sale. As a patron assistant you will assist customers with larges purchases to the load zone. This will include lifting boxes on to a cart that will then be pushed outside, up the wheelchair access ramp, and to the street. You may be asked to help load purchases into customer vehicles.
You will have a 2-way radio available to communicate with will call and roving counters. This will enable you to assist in other ways at the book sale while you're waiting for customers to check out.
Paton assistants will be a huge comfort to patrons still adjusting to our new location at the Seattle Center's Exhibition Hall.
Benefits of volunteering: $6 book sale voucher (per shift), light refreshments, and community connection!

Mission Statement
The Friends of the Seattle Public Library is a non-profit, grassroots organization dedicated to promoting our Library as an essential institution of society. Our volunteer members advocate, educate, and raise funds on behalf of the Library, its patrons, and the larger Seattle community.
Description
The Friends believe that public libraries are essential to our society. Public libraries, like public schools, are part of the bedrock that supports American communities. They inform and educate, they encourage the exploration and discussion of ideas, and they bring together people from all walks of life. The Friends are involved in these core activities: The Friends support the Library as it strives to provide outstanding library services to Seattle-area residents. We promote awareness of the Library in the community and encourage use of Library services in our neighborhoods. The Friends conduct advocacy efforts on behalf of the Library, as well as fund special Library programs and services. We keep city officials informed of Library needs and were instrumental in ensuring the passage of a major library bond issue that today is transforming our Library system.
