Recruiting Volunteer Sexual Assault Victim Advocates

Cause Areas

Thu Oct 04, 2018 - Tue Oct 23, 2018

1021 SW 4th AvePortland, OR 97204

The Multnomah County District Attorney Victim Assistance Program is currently looking for dedicated and compassionate community members to join our volunteer Sexual Assault Victim Advocate team! The role of a Sexual Assault Victim Advocate (SAVA) is to provide support, resources and information to survivors of sexual assault during the forensic medical examination and law enforcement interviews. SAVAs meet with law enforcement and the sexual assault survivor at local hospitals and medical facilities. The purpose of the hospital response is two-fold: to ensure the physical well-being of the survivor and to collect forensic evidence that may be present. Our SAVAs are a critical part of our program's ability to support and serve victims during an often traumatic and stressful time in their lives.

All potential volunteers must complete a volunteer application, attend the comprehensive and free MCDA 40 hour SAVA training and participate in an interview. Our next training opportunity will be held October 4th-23rd, 2018 Training sessions will be held at the Multnomah County Courthouse in downtown Portland on Tuesday/Thursday evenings and all day Saturdays.

Applications are due by September 20, 2018.

For further information, to obtain an application or if you have any questions, please contact our SAVA Training Coordinator at 503-988-4871 or email ATTN: SAVA Training Coordinator. We look forward to hearing from you!
