MMSC Spring Clean-Up Day

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Maker's Mark Secretariat Center

Spring is upon us, and with it comes visions of freshly repaired and painted fences. We can really use a lot of help with this project. As the old saying goes, many hands make light work. Tasks include:

  • Replacing downed fence boards
  • Securing loose fence boards
  • Painting the fences
  • Any other painting/clean-up projects as time allows

If you have helped the MMSC out in the past and would like to again, or if you just have the urge to spend a day out in the fresh air helping with a worthy cause, please come out and join us on April 7th for a day of fun in the sun.

About Maker's Mark Secretariat Center

Location:

Maker's Mark Secretariat Center, 4089 Iron Works Parkway, Lexington, KY 40511, US

Mission Statement

The Maker's Mark Secretariat Center was founded as a showcae and re-training facility for Thoroughbred ex-racehorses. We believe that abuse, abandonment and slaughter are not appropriate means of treatment for horses who have reached the end of their racing careers. We provide these horses with a chance for re-training for second careers. We also exist to raise awareness of the ex-racehorse's plight.

Description

Here at the MMSC, we take in horses from rescue agencies, private owners and trainers around the country for re-schooling and adoption. We are a 22-acre facility located within the Kentucky Horse Park, and are designed to house as many as 10-12 horses at a time. We seek the soundest, sanest horses from off the track in order to demonstrate the versatility of the Thoroughbred breed.
