The CIT program at the Broken Arrow Boys & Girls Club is a place where youth plant their roots to begin to grow into the leaders of the future. It is our goal to teach these core values to our young adults through this summer camp programming. Our program is a hands-on training course where these young adults learn to design, develop, and oversee programs. This allows them to learn what it means to be in charge of a group while learning to be an effective, compassionate, observant camp counselor and teacher to the children in their group. They will be guided by our experienced staff members that have worked with various age groups to encourage them into becoming skilled mentors. The Boys & Girls Club recognizes the core values that are vital to success as a counselor in a camp setting.

This program teaches time management, organization skills, classroom work, leadership attributes, hands on mentoring, and interviewing experience. Our main purpose is to prepare your youth for a job position in the future. During the morning we’ll meet to plan activities, discuss programs, and go over the day’s plans. We’ll discuss observations from the day before and any experiences that could improve day to day programming while working with campers and staff. We will also practice filling out job applications and gear up for important mock job interviews at the end of every two weeks. They’ll receive volunteer hours that can be added to your growing resume, a certificate of program completion, a certificate of Safe From Harm training (Child abuse prevention and identification) and a letter of recommendation upon request.
