Join us in helping to teach healthy and affordable cooking classes for families. Prior cooking knowledge is preferred but not mandatory. Please sign up for what days you are available to help.
Volunteers assist the students and Chef Instructor with set up, clean up, and cooking during this 5-week program of cooking classes as they learn 8 basic cooking skills and create meals. Meal is provided at the end of class. Cooking experience is not mandatory but appreciated. Times can be broken up help if the full time frame is not ideal.
Ideally, we'd like to have 3-4 volunteers per class. We encourage you sign up for the full shift but if you can't please select the time slot(s) that work with your schedule. You can signup for multiple shifts.
Time slots are broken up into:
- FULL SHIFT (5.5 hours) - Preferred but understand if your schedule doesn't allow it.
- setup (1.75 hours)
- class (3 hours)
- cleanup (1.75 hours)

Description
St Francis Seraph Ministries serves OTR residents experiencing barriers to full life. Our ministries include a Soup Kitchen which provides Breakfast and Dinner 5 day/week; the Sarah Center providing classes in empowerment through arts and other creative endeavors for women; Cooking for the Family, (meal planning and preparation classes, encouraging families to make healthy choices and share mealtime); and Bag Lunch ministry (lunches for day laborers).
